Inaugural Durban ICC Leadership Summit featuring Bishop TD Jakes Launched
The possibility of a new era of creating further economic opportunities for South Africans is now on the horizon after the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) officially launched its inaugural Durban ICC Leadership Summit featuring Bishop TD Jakes this week.
The Durban ICC has taken a bold initiative to create its own events where the need is evident, and will host a prestigious one-day Leadership Summit on the 19th September 2019 with world-renowned speaker, author and successful businessman Bishop TD Jakes as the headline speaker.
Speaking about the Summit, Bishop TD Jakes said: “The Durban ICC event is so powerful, I am going to be there on Thursday, 19 September 2019. I will be with you all day to impart things that I have learnt along the way that may help you and assist you as you stand as gatekeepers at this powerful intersection between pastors and business leaders. I think we can define it, I think we can declare it and I think the community can benefit from it. You will not want to miss it, meet me there.”
Durban ICC Chief Executive Officer Lindiwe Rakharebe said the Durban ICC has hosted some of the biggest international conferences on the African continent which demonstrate that the Centre is more than simply a venue but a platform for meetings, a facilitator of dialogue and a place for people to connect, debate and ultimately find common ground.
“We are very excited about this event as it signifies the next phase of the Durban ICC’s evolution as Africa’s leading convention centre. For the past two decades we have been honoured to be the host venue of many significant international events, and we have seen the amazing impact which events can have on society. Now we are drawing our collective events experience and using this magnificent facility to initiate and develop meaningful events which can contribute positively to our communities and to society at large.”
“This event is a great opportunity for organisations to invest in their leadership teams. We are encouraging businesses to send their management teams to the event, for government leaders to attend this event as groups and for churches to invest in their pastors by sponsoring them to attend the Leadership Summit”, added Rakharebe.
This cutting-edge Leadership Summit brings together captains of industry, thought leaders from government and civil society, and religious leaders from various denominations who will engage on matters of national importance in order to develop solutions that will address the challenges we face as a country.
The powerful full-day programme will feature an exciting line-up of diverse and prominent speakers who will be engaging on the following topics:
• Ethical leadership,
• Transgenerational leadership,
• Women in leadership,
• Progressive leadership, and
• Leading in difficult times.
Rakharebe added that during the Durban ICC Leadership Summit, Bishop TD Jakes will also be imparting his business knowledge during a Masterclass themed: “Principles to succeed in business”, where he will be engaging with delegates about entrepreneurship, developing business leaders, how to develop successful businesses and building sustainable ministries.
Bishop Vusi Dube said South Africa needs a man of Bishop TD Jakes’ calibre to engage with the country’s leadership on critical matters of national importance.
“A good leader does not move away from their vision and mission irrespective of their circumstances. Even during difficult times, as a leader, you must show compassion. I have learnt from Nelson Mandela that a leader will lead anywhere, whether you’re in front, in the middle or at the back,” said Dube.
Businesswoman and television personality Zanele Mbokazi shared her insights on leadership qualities of successful women and also urged women to invest in themselves.
“Women still find it difficult to work together and build sisterhood because while we may be strong as individuals but we are powerful as a collective. Another thing that may limit women from reaching their potential is our fear to talk about our success. We are judged and people say we are pompous when we share our success stories,” she said.
Tickets for the event are available through Computicket and package prices start from R500 per person.
