Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
The Durban ICC is a Level 3 Value-Adding Supplier.
The Durban ICC implements its Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) policies in line with Government requirements and aims to contribute meaningfully to each transformation objective namely: direct empowerment through management control at a senior level; human resource development and employment equity; empowerment through preferential procurement; enterprise development and corporate social investment.
It is doing so because it is in the best interests of our country, and of the company and its employees, customers, suppliers and the communities in which we operate. The Durban ICC subscribes to the principle of equal opportunity and embraces diversity. The only way we can ensure a sustainable future is by enabling as many South Africans as possible to have a real stake in the economy.
We are pleased to report that the company has recently made a significant improvement in its Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment status, moving from a Level 7 contributor to Level 3 contributor. This improved rating is a result of a concerted effort on the part of the Durban ICC management to give effect to its transformation strategy which is aimed at supporting the local community when selecting suppliers and vendors as well as investing meaningfully in the development of its people. This improvement is a reflection of the company’s on-going commitment to transformation and empowerment.
