Durban, South Africa – The Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) is proud to announce that it has been named the winner of the “Employer of Choice: Public Sector Organisations” category at the prestigious Future of HR Awards 2025.

Hosted by Topco Media, the Future of HR Awards celebrate South Africa’s top organisations and leaders driving innovation, transformation, and excellence in the field of Human Resources. The category, sponsored by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), recognises public sector organisations that demonstrate outstanding achievements in people management, leadership, and organisational culture.

This accolade affirms the Durban ICC’s ongoing commitment to fostering a workplace where excellence, inclusivity, and integrity are at the heart of every operation.

Durban ICC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lindiwe Rakharebe, expressed her pride in receiving this recognition, saying, “At the Durban ICC, we believe that our people are our greatest asset. This award is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism of our staff, who continue to embody the spirit of service excellence that defines our brand. Being recognised as an Employer of Choice is not just about policies or programmes — it is about creating a culture where every employee feels valued, inspired, and empowered to make a difference.”

The Durban ICC has built a strong reputation for excellence in corporate governance, human capital development, and employee wellbeing. Through its progressive HR initiatives, the organisation has implemented a range of programmes focused on skills development, leadership empowerment, diversity and inclusion, and wellness support — ensuring that employees are equipped to deliver world-class service in one of Africa’s leading convention centres.

Over the years, the Durban ICC has consistently been recognised for both its operational excellence and its positive social and economic impact, including consistent clean audit opinions from the Auditor-General of South Africa, numerous World Travel Awards, and its recent recognition as “Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2025”.

The Future of HR Award further highlights the Centre’s success in combining business performance with people development, proving that organisational excellence is achieved through an engaged, motivated, and empowered workforce.
