Durban ICC nominated for 2018 National Business Award
The Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) has been nominated as a finalist in the Top Performing Public Service Award Category at the 16th annual South Africa National Business Awards.
The prestigious awards, also known as the “Oscars of South African Business”, will be held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on 15 November.
Durban ICC’s nomination comes after the Centre was recently named Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre for the seventeenth time at the World Travel Awards.
The Durban ICC will compete against the City of Tshwane, Coega Development Corporation, Gautrain Management Agency, Transnet Port Terminals and uShaka Marine World for the winner’s trophy.
For over a decade, the awards recognise companies with outstanding performance in areas including sustainability, customer focus, tech innovation and fast growth. With its rigorous research and criteria, the accolade is recognised as a benchmark for business excellence.
Lindiwe Rakharebe, Chief Executive Officer of Durban ICC, said the Centre was extremely honoured to have been identified as a top performing company.
“This nomination reaffirms Durban ICC’s commitment, professionalism and dedication to service excellence. Our recognition is an indication of the impact the Centre has as a catalyst for economic development in the City, KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa by attracting a number of premier and world-class international events thus contributing towards the growth of business tourism in the country,” said Rakharebe.
Director of Top Communication and Media Van Fletcher said they were very excited by the entries the company received at the National Business Awards this year.
“For the first time, we have added sector-specific categories, which has meant we are able to celebrate the growth leaders across the South African economy. Helping us celebrate their successes on the night will be VIP speakers Colin Coleman of Goldman Sachs, Bonang Mohale of Business Leadership South Africa and Asha Patel of Google SA. It really promises to be a stellar event,” said Fletcher.
