DURBAN ICC CONFIDENT OF BEING VOTED AS AFRICA’S BEST CONVENTION CENTRE
Die-hard fans of the multi-award-winning Durban ICC are urged to vote for the venue to win the ultimate gold standard on the African continent and globally.
The Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) has been selected as a nominee in the Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2023 category. The Durban ICC is Africa’s largest Convention Centre and is a major contributor to the GDP of KwaZulu Natal. International recognition is important to attract both regional and global events.
A groundswell of votes can convert the nomination of Durban ICC into winning the title of Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre 2023 on the 30th anniversary of the World Travel Awards. The nomination of the Durban ICC by World Travel Awards presents an excellent opportunity for Durban to claim its space in the global market space.
Voting for Africa is now open and runs until midnight 19 March 2023. Votes can be cast by travel professionals, media and tourism consumers, with the nominee gaining the most votes in each category announced as the 2023 WTA winner.
Other nominees in Africa are the Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Egypt; Cape Town International Convention Centre; Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya; Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda; and Sandton Convention Centre, South Africa.
Durban ICC has been nominated in the World Travel Awards – Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 20 times and has been voted the winner in this category no fewer than 17 times.
Lindiwe Rakharebe, Chief Executive Officer, Durban ICC, said the convention centre had worked diligently to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by applying innovative initiatives made possible by digital technology throughout its operations. Today, hybrid meetings allow delegates who attend in person to connect virtually with delegates anywhere in the world.
