The Durban ICC received top honours in the Tourism Business category at the KwaZulu-Natal Top Business Awards gala dinner held on the 21st of July 2015.  The KZN Top Business Awards honour the achievements of the province’s thriving economy by identifying and celebrating business success in a variety of business categories.

The awards programme recognises organisations in the private and public sectors that are making a significant contribution to sustainable economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal. The KZN Top Business Awards Gala Dinner offers an excellent opportunity for business leaders to meet, be inspired and showcase their innovations to their peers.

Durban ICC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Lindiwe Rakharebe said, “I am honoured and overwhelmed by this incredible achievement and to know that the Durban ICC is a leader in the tourism business category amongst such an impressive range of competitors. We celebrate this success by continuing to promote investment in the province in order to stimulate economic growth and raise the profile of KwaZulu-Natal as a first class business destination. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the Durban ICC team for executing their functions at their highest level and ensuring that we remain at the top of our league.”

The KZN Top Business Awards’ criteria have been drawn from the principles of the King III Code and Report on Corporate Governance. King III applies to all South African entities, regardless of the form of the incorporation or whether it is in the public, private or non-profit sectors.

Winners and finalists of the awards were assessed by an expert panel of judges base on a variety of organisational performance such as contribution to the KZN economy, management systems in place, financial performance, environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The gala dinner was attended by high profiled dignitaries and leaders from various government departments, municipalities and businesses across the province.
