Durban ICC is ready for another highly successful year
The Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) is geared up and ready to host both local and international delegates in 2019.
Despite stagnant economic growth, the Durban ICC has not compromised on its standards of service excellence and continues to raise the bar when it comes to delivering world-class events.
The centre remains committed to driving economic and social growth through the high level events we host.
While we have seen increased competition from existing players in the industry as well as the entrance of new competitors locally, all over Africa and the rest of the world; we continue to re-invent ourselves in keeping with the latest global industry trends.
This year marks 22 years since the centre opened its doors and the Durban ICC has led the way for South Africa’s convention industry and pioneered the country’s ability to attract international events to its shores.
As a catalyst for economic growth and a pioneer in attracting international events to South Africa, the Durban ICC’s mandate is to grow the industry; make Durban a premier leisure destination and to contribute significantly to socio-economic transformation.
We have also made an impact in the lives of those less fortunate through providing financial and non-financial support to those in need.
In this edition of Sanibonani, we will highlight some of the international events the centre is preparing to host this year; most of which will bring positive socio-economic spin-offs such as tourism development, job creation, skills development and supplier development.
Ploughing back to the community and lending a helping hand to those that are less fortunate is at the heart of what we do. Therefore, in line with our Corporate Social Investment commitments, the Durban ICC has adopted a streamlined approach in responding to the high volume of funding proposals it receives from Non-Profit Organisations. The approach entails a transparent process during which the Durban ICC invites Non-Profit Organisations to apply for sponsorship.
The centre’s Environmental, Social and Governance Committee has published the requirements for Non-Profit Organisations to submit sponsorship applications. The advert and application form is available on the Durban ICC website.
Importantly, on behalf of the Durban ICC Team, I would like to thank all our clients and stakeholders for your continued support and partnership over the years. I am confident that 2019 will be yet another successful year.
Enjoy the read!
