Creating world-class experiences for our delegates
In the first three months of this year, the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) has had the honour of hosting some of the most prestigious events. Most recently the Centre hosted the National WorldSkills Competition which is the gold standard of skills excellence. The event inspires young competitors to reach new heights, helping them turn their passion into a profession.
The Forbes Woman Africa – Leading Women Summit 2019 which was held at the Centre on 08 March 2019, brought together influential women from across industries and professions. Hosting such events once again demonstrate that the Durban ICC is more than simply a venue. It is a platform for meetings, a facilitator of dialogue and a place for people to connect, debate and ultimately find solutions to some of the challenges South Africa faces.
On 19 March 2019, the Durban ICC hosted the KZN Local Government Indaba 2019 which was attended by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, mayors from different municipalities, Chief Financial Officers, KZN Cogta MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube, eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede and Auditor-General of South Africa Kimi Makwetu. The purpose of the Indaba was to reflect on the audit outcome for the financial year ending June 2017.
Once again, all roads lead to the Durban ICC for Africa’s Travel Indaba which is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar.
Various tourism products and services will be showcased at the exhibition, exhibitors will participate in meetings to be held during the three-day event from 02-04 May 2019.
For the first time Africa’s Travel Indaba will introduce the Green Stand Awards to recognise exhibitors who go that extra “green” mile to build and design stands that are environmentally and socially sustainable.
Our international delegates who will descend on Durban for Africa’s Travel Indaba can look forward to the Durban ICC’s unique brand of world-class service and a uniquely warm and authentic African experience. Providing exceptional customer service remains the heartbeat of the Durban ICC and we strive to ensure that every delegate who walks through our five-star facility has a memorable experience. It is our clients who need to be satisfied with our service.
Delegates visiting the Centre will also get to experience our superb standards of culinary excellence and hospitality. As part of the Durban ICC’s gourmet evolution over the past 21 years in the industry, we are completely reinventing our culinary offering in order to showcase some of Durban’s authentic African Cuisines as well as catering for emerging culinary trends which are growing in popularity such as vegan offerings, as well as gluten-free dishes, and generally more healthy options in accordance with the needs of our clients. Furthermore, a wide range of new innovative packages have been designed to meet the unique needs of each target market, at the best possible rates.
The Durban ICC is the leading venue for meetings, business events, conferences and exhibitions in Africa. Several events are planned for the year and the centre’s highly experienced and friendly team will ensure that every event is seamlessly executed giving the event organiser complete peace of mind. Our venue capacity and flexibility coupled with our amazing culinary offering and hospitality is what sets us apart from any other convention centre.
We look forward to hosting you and your delegates at the Durban ICC.
